Living in Australia, I dont have the luxury for wearing wool and knitted goodies for the majority of the year.. So when people ask me why I knit in summer, I just say to them that it's to build up my little winter knits for those few months when it gets cold enough to wear them...
On my current projects list (and yes, I have failed in my resolution to only have 3 WIPs at a time), is Norah Gauhan's cabled cardi from Vogue Knitting's latest magazine.. I have to say that these little pentagons have just been a delight to knit - amazing to watch them come into shape, and I have loved seeing my cardi base grow as I've continued to add stitches on...
At the moment I'm up to pentagon #6 - and feverently trying it on as I go because I've heard stories about the ill fit of it from Craftster... Some progress pics:
On another WIP , my Phildar Cropped Cardi *was* coming along nicely until I did my left sleeve. After casting off, I measured it against my armhole and realized it was way too short - I had missed by 2cm!! How frustrating.. so now I have to frog back that little bit and fix it up ... :( I know that will take me ages though because like a lot of other knitters, I hate redoing something .. the fun just isnt there!
That's all for now ;D

I have seen the Vogue Knitting book at HK and the one on the cover is very special. It is nice to know you are knitting it, and I am eager to see your FO - how it looks like.
When knitting the sleeves, I usually pay extra attention to the sleeve cap to ensure it can fit in the armhole.

The pentagons look beautiful so far! I was thinking about knitting that cardigan too... I'll have to remember to pay special attention to the sleeves caps!

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I love the Vogue cardigan, I can't wait to see it completed!
I agree with you about the reverse stockinette... it does look sort of inside out. But I bet non-knitters wouldn't even notice the difference (that's what I tell myself anyway!)

Laura & Handknits : I never usually pay attention to the sleeve caps, but I think I will from now on ;)
Stitchwitch - I do hope that you knit the swanlake sweater though!! I would love to see it - especially in different colours (am thinking the white might accentuate the reverse stockinette a bit more than others?)

Hey, don't give up on the capecho. I've just finished mine in Zara plus on 5 mm needles and it looks fantastic, exactly as in the cover photo. Be strongminded, do not fiddle the details and be sure to make the front band exactly 1 to 1 or even a bit shorter. Needs to be worn with a dress, though, so now my other skill has to be called into action.
